What do you think about the SGU comic series?

This comic series seemed like a fresh jumping point to get the story moving again (although the original SGU creators were not involved). However, I think its similar to a poorly planned fan-fiction that had the best of intentions but then the writers decided to give up when their additions to the story really didn’t make a lot of sense.
