Do you get holiday leave basic training?

The Army is the only branch of the military that honors the Christmas Exodus break for all recruits who are in basic training and AIT. The exodus break generally starts a week before Christmas and lasts until a week after Christmas. The dates vary every year depending on how Christmas falls that year.

When is holiday block leave for Army 2020?

Holiday Block leave will be from December 20th to January 2nd this year! If you will be in training during this time you will have the opportunity to take leave and travel home. You will be responsible for all travel expenses both leaving and coming back to training so you may want to start planning early!

Supervisors and/or commanding officers must approve all leave. Unless you have a verified family emergency (death or serious injury/illness of an immediate family member), you’re not allowed to take leave during basic training.
