Only three of the 76 rigs currently being built are still on their original delivery schedule: semis Hai Long 1, Nordic Spring, and Sevan Developer. Of course, as has been the case for years now, not all rig construction contracts are deferred; many have been canceled outright.

Is rig count going up?

The total rig count was still up 238, or 70\%, over this time last year. Oil rigs rose four to 471 this week, their highest since April 2020, while gas rigs rose three to 105, their highest March 2020.
