Caltech encourages all prospective undergraduate applicants to prepare by challenging themselves with the most rigorous course of study available, including the Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. However, college credit for AP or IB classes is not automatic.

Reference materials, calculators, electronic devices, textbooks, tablets, notes, or aids are not permitted. If an applicant requires special testing accommodations, they must contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions prior to the application deadline. You must submit the completed examinations to Caltech by March 22.
Does Caltech track my Legacy with the Institute?
Caltech does not consider or track a student’s legacy with the Institute, nor do we track or consider a student’s connection to prospective or current donors. The supplemental essays are the same as those for first-year admission.

Caltech does not have an official form to accompany this additional letter, so please be sure the letter includes your full name and birthdate. The letter may be emailed directly to our office at [email protected] or submitted through the Coalition Application.
