The application process consists of five steps:

  1. Make sure you’re eligible to apply for Outreachy.
  2. Pick 1-2 projects.
  3. Make small, consistent contributions to the project(s) you’ve chosen.
  4. Record in-progress contributions on the Outreachy website.
  5. Complete your final application.

How do you write an Outreachy essay?

Discuss how you plan to apply, ask questions while making the initial contributions, or propose some enhancements to the initial expected contribution. Be specific with your question to the mentor. Do respect their time, becuase they would be receiving queries from many applicants.

We accept around 30-50 interns each round (depending on funding). That means people who successfully make a contribution to a project have a 30\% to 50\% chance of getting accepted.
