A growing trend among devotees during the nine-day Navratri festival is to remain completely barefoot all the time. Many such devotees, especially youngsters, can be seen walking without any footwear on the roads, stations, and even in their offices.
It is said that sleeping during the day symbolises laziness. Goddess Durga is seen as the one who is full of energy and ready to fulfill her duties. Moreover, it is said that everybody in the family of the person observing the fasts, should sleep on the floor.
Keep a check on your sleeping habit If Vishnu Purana is to be believed, one should avoid sleeping during the afternoon during Navratri. It is said that all the “good karma” attained from the fast goes null and void if you sleep during the day.

Nine Nights
Navratri, (Sanskrit: “Nine Nights”) in full Sharad Navratri, Navratri also spelled Navaratri, in Hinduism, major festival held in honour of the divine feminine. Navratri occurs over 9 days during the month of Ashvin, or Ashvina (in the Gregorian calendar, usually September–October).
Significance of Navratri Also known as Sharda Navratri, this festival is observed in Hindu Lunar month called Ashwin. Bengalis celebrate Durgo Puja during these 9 days by paying their respect to the nine incarnations of goddess Durga. On the first day, devotees worship the daughter of the mountain, Goddess Shailputri.
Can I worship Durga during periods?
