What is high slump value?

What is high slump value?

Slump is a measurement of the workability or consistency of concrete. In other words, it measures how easy the concrete is to push, mold and smooth out. Accordingly, its slump rating indicates what construction application the concrete is good for. The higher the slump, the more workable the concrete.

What is a true slump?

True slump refers to general drop of the concrete mass evenly all around without disintegration. It may undergo segregation and bleeding and thus is undesirable for the durability of concrete. Collapse slump indicates that concrete mix is too wet and the mix is regarded as harsh and lean.

What is a zero slump concrete?

concrete of stiff or extremely dry consistency showing no measurable slump after removal of the slump cone. (See also slump and no-slump concrete.)

What does 5 inch slump mean?

The 4- to 5-inch slump for decorative concrete is a relatively stiff mixture, but not quite as stiff as the 2- to 3-inch slump seen here. A higher slumped concrete is more more fluid and will flow some distance on its own.

What is the slump value for high workability?

5. observation and recording

Workability Compaction Factor Slump (mm)
Very Low 0.78 0 – 25
Low 0.85 25 – 50
Medium 0.92 50 – 100
High 0.95 100 – 175

IS 456 2000 A grade of concrete?

Grade of Concrete As per IS 456-2000 (Older Version ) According to the Table-2 of IS 456-2000, the Grade of concrete is classified into three categories i.e. Ordinary Concrete, Standard Concrete, and High Strength Concrete.

Is Shear slump acceptable?

The slump test must be repeated in order to avoid shear slump. Shear slump indicates that the concrete is not compacted. It may undergo bleeding and segregation so shear slump is undesirable for the durability of the concrete. If we get a shear slump, concrete is not acceptable due to lack of cohesion.

What is non slump?

According to ACI’s Cement and Concrete Terminology (ACI 116R-90), no-slump concrete is freshly mixed concrete exhibiting a slump of less than 1/4 inch. And negative-slump concrete is concrete of a consistency such that it not only has zero slump but still has zero slump after additional water is added.
