Rats are naturally social and will continue to be. It’s more to keep the rat healthy. If they have a companion and a large cage with a lot to do, 1–2 hours is sufficient. A lot of owners won’t say this, or agree with it – but on the days you can’t spare 1–2 hours, just spent 15–20 mins a couple times during that day.
