  1. Create a profile in PSK’s website.
  2. Complete the online application form, pay the fee and schedule an appointment to submit the documents to the nearest PSK.
  3. Submit the documents at PSK: You must personally submit your documents.
  4. Police verification: Personal presence is mandatory.

Do companies check police records?

As an applicant for a job, your potential employer is allowed to ask you to do a criminal record check before they employ you. However, under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) an employer must have a lawful basis for carrying out a criminal record check and processing data relating to criminal convictions.

Does Indian PCC have expiry date?

Yes, the PCC is valid for 6 months only when applied from the country in which you currently reside. However, if an Indian living in US and have PCC issued from Indian consulate, then it’s validity will stretch beyond 6 months.

How long does a criminal clearance certificate last?

In general, police clearance certificates can be used for six (6) months from issuance. Keep in mind that a police clearance certificate does not contain details pertaining to validity; it is only issued with a date stamp. However, different countries place different validities on such documents.

In certain cities in India, Indian nationals can also apply for a PCC directly at the jurisdictional Police Commissioner’s office of the applicant’s residence. Collecting the PCC from the Police Commissioner’s office – Personal presence of the applicant may be required.

You only have to disclose your record to an employer if they ask you. Many employers ask at some point and if your convictions are unspent, you legally need to disclose them. If they ask you and you don’t disclose, they could later revoke the job offer or you could be dismissed.
