Dingle is truly beautiful and well worth a visit and is about an hours drive from Tralee. If you do decide to do it, go via the Connor Pass route, amazing views. From Killarney you can travel to Cork for Blarney Castle and then travel back to Dublin from there.

Which is better Dingle Peninsula or Ring of Kerry?

The Ring of Kerry certainly has more historic sites and activities along the way than Dingle Peninsula. However Dingle has better pubs and music which was a huge part of our trip. The Slea Head Drive simply has the Gallarus Oratory plus numerous tiny towns for food, shopping and music.

Dingle is a port and there is no beach in the town. But not to worry there is a blue flag beach near Dingle. It is about 10 minutes’ drive from Dingle town. Ventry beach has a few access points along the long beach.

Expect the drive to take three or more hours, depending on how many places you stop to visit along the way. From Dingle, follow signs for Slea Head Drive to the left. A few kilometers into the drive is a turn off for Eask Tower.
