A sometimes fun and fluid working environment. Joining the RFA gives you the opportunity to travel around the world and meet and gain new friends from different walks of life. The main downside is that of working a shift pattern of 4 months away at sea and having 3 months off afterwards.

How long do you have to serve in the RFA?

A typical appointment length in the RFA is four months long, followed by 21 days paid leave for each month served on board to look forward to. Plenty of time to catch up with friends and family or go travelling!

Preparing for your procedure To allow a clear view during the procedure your stomach must be empty. You will be asked not to eat anything for at least 6 hours before your appointment time. You may drink water up to 2 hours before the appointment time.
