If you decide to take time off from film and TV acting (e.g. to finish school), cannot afford your dues, or want to leave the acting world altogether, you can take an Honorable Withdrawal (HW) from the Union. This suspends your SAG-AFTRA membership indefinitely.

SAG-Eligible is one of the best statuses to have, in this town. So, “SAG-Eligible” on your resume tells people that you are available to do SAG work without costing them much hassle or potential fees and tells people that you are available to do non-union work without violating SAG’s Rule One.

Landing this job has made you SAG-AFTRA-Eligible, meaning that, at any time, you can pay the initiation fee (currently $3,000) and become a member of SAG-AFTRA. You also have the option to simply remain SAG-AFTRA-Eligible indefinitely.

How long does SAG membership last?

What actors are Ficore?

Fi-Core actors have resigned or rejected SAG-AFTRA membership, and as such are not union members. You cannot claim to be SAG-AFTRA on your online casting profiles or list it on your resume. You are a non-union actor with the right to work on a union set.
