What are the conditions of tawaf?
The tawaf is done in an anti-clockwise movement, with a full circle completed every time a person is back at the Black Stone, or parallel with it. Normally, a pilgrim does the tawaf three times for his pilgrimage, and once for the Umrah. Moreover, the tawaf may be offered as a voluntary act of worship at anytime.
Where does tawaf start?
Kaaba
Tawaf begins from the corner of the Kaaba with the Black Stone. If possible, Muslims are to kiss or touch it, but this is often not possible because of the large crowds.
Where is tawaf performed?
This means that the angels perform Tawaf around Al-Bayt Al-Ma’mur to worship Allah just as Muslims perform Tawaf around the Holy Kaaba in Masjid-e-Haram. As you may have observed, the Tawaf around the Ka’abah is performed 24 hours similar to how the angels perform their Tawaf around Al-Bayt Al-Ma’mur round the clock.
What is Sunnah to do during tawaf?
It is also recommended that we do the first three circles of the first tawaf of the pilgrimage and the tawaf of the Umrah in a jogging movement. It has remained a Sunnah recommended to us that we do the same in every tawaf which is supposed to be followed by a sa’ie between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah.
Can you do Tawaf?
It is permissible to offer the pilgrimage and the Umrah on behalf of another person who is unable to offer such a duty personally, as in the case of a deceased person or one who suffers from a chronic illness. To offer tawaf on behalf of another person is the same as offering two raka’ahs of Sunnah on his behalf.
Can you do Tawaf for others?
Tawaf is a sunnah act and one cannot perform Tawaf on behalf of anyone whether he is alive or dead.
Why do we perform Tawaf?
Muslims walk around the ‘Kaaba’ in Mecca during Hajj or Umrah and when they visit the mosque. This in Arabic is called ‘Tawaf’ or circumambulation. They move together in one direction in a circular fashion to symbolize their belief in and worship of the one true God, Allah.
What is the first Tawaf of Hajj called?
On the first day of Hajj, pilgrims will walk seven times around the Kaaba for the welcoming tawaf (also called the circumambulation of the Kaaba) and kiss the black stone.
Why Tawaf is done?
The Tawaf is believed to demonstrate the unity of the believers in the worship of the One God, as we move in harmony together around the Kaaba, while supplicating to Allah.
Can you do Umrah on behalf of a dead person?
It is not possible to do it for more than one person at a time. What you can do, however, is that after you have finished one Umrah you go to the nearest point of the Hil area, such as the mosque at Taneem, and enter into the state of consecration, or ihraam, anew.
