When should I replace my Speedplay pedals?

When should I replace my Speedplay pedals?

To be fair they do last a long time. I’ve had to replace about three times in six years. I try and avoid walking on cleats, but I find that it is the metal spring in the cleat which wears away first. Speedplay are unique in having the attachment mechanism in the cleat itself rather than the pedal.

Why does my recumbent bike hurt my knees?

Are SPD-SL cleats slippery?

Because they stick out from the sole of the shoe, SPD-SL cleats can be quite slippery, particularly if they get this worn (please, please do not let your cleats get this worn). The large cleat makes walking in your shoes awkward though. You end up waddling and if a surface is wet, you can easily slip.
