Why is an identity important?
This set of characteristics allows you to be definitively and uniquely recognisable. Identity plays an important role in empowering individuals to exercise their rights and responsibilities fairly and equitably in a modern society.
Why should you be proud of your culture?
It helps us to connect and learn other cultures that we may not be familiar with. We learn to respect each other and it unites people from different backgrounds. If you don’t know your culture and heritage, it means you don’t know where you come from and where you are going. It’s our culture and needs to be respected.

Identity is a core and unavoidable part of all our lives. Our actions shape our identity, and in turn, our identity shapes our actions. Trying to pretend that identity doesn’t matter may make you feel better about yourself, but it won’t affect how others see you, and how their perceptions shape their actions.
