Not because West was a big star, but because the consultant, Alan Siegel, liked the image. “It’s a really elegant, powerful presentation of basketball,” Siegel said in a recent interview.

Despite having his silhouette serve as the NBA logo, Hall of Famer Jerry West would prefer to see the league change it. During an appearance on ESPN’s The Jump, West said he thinks his silhouette being on the logo calls too much attention to him. “I wish that had never gotten out that I’m the logo,” he said.
